TAKE NOTE WHEN USING AGRICULTURAL CHEMICALS

» When agricultural chemicals are used:

• Ensure the product is registered under Act 36 of 1947 for the purpose of use;
• Ensure the company whose product it is, is a member of CropLife; and
• Ensure the distribution company is a member of CropLife, and that the agent is qualified.

In addition, ensure that agricultural chemicals are not causing unnecessary risks for a non-species targets. Where pollinators like bees are active (in the flowering season), make sure the product is safe to use and notify beekeepers in advance of possible applications and usage.

» The accumulation of empty agricultural chemical containers remains a problem and creates risks. AVCASA (the representative body of agricultural chemical companies) listed practices on how to work with empty chemical containers and compiled a list of companies that can recycle these containers.
